Puppy Care Instructions

Picking up your new baby

Whether you are picking up your sweet fur baby or having them delivered you will need to make sure they are nice in comfortable in a Dog Carrier or a Puppy Booster Seat. Ask your breeder to ensure that they are given a blanket or toy with their mother’s scent. This will help ease some of the anxiety of going to a brand new world.

Some puppies may sleep when traveling while others will be ready for some play time, so be sure to have a few Toys handy to keep them busy on the ride home.  If you are not provided with a small sample, be sure to have some Puppy food, a collapsible bowl, and a portable water bottle, as small breeds need to eat and drink more often than larger breeds do.

Home Essentials

Once you get home, you want to introduce your baby to his/her new environment. You should have a good Harness and collar so you can keep them close once you are home or would like to bring them out for some fresh air. Also have some poop bags handy in case they need to “go.”

Make sure you have a place near you for you puppy to sleep for the first week or two. A doggie playpen or crate with a nice bed would be perfect for you little one.

Also make sure your puppy has food available to them 24/7 for the first few months. Small dogs blood sugar will drop if they are not eating and drinking enough. Have a bowl of food and water for them and if you notice you baby being a little lethargic you can give them hypoglycemia meds such as Forti-cal as directed.

Also make sure you have dental supplies ,based on your breed, to keep the puppies’ teeth clean and breath fresh. If you chose to skip everything on this list DO NOT FORGET Training pads and cleaning supplies. There will be a lot of mistake as you are training your puppy. Using the potty pads with help them when they cannot go outside, to still have a place to “go” instead of on your new rug.

!!MOST IMPORTANT!! Make sure you schedule your puppies Vet appointment within 48 hours of purchase.
